The closing conference of the Yemeni Higher Education Development and Internationalization Project (YHELD), funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, concluded today in Cairo, Egypt. The conference, held from May 13-14, saw the participation of seven Yemeni universities and several European partner universities.
Taiz University was represented at the conference by Professor Dr. Riyadh Al-Aqab, Vice President for Student Affairs and Project Coordinator, reflecting the university’s active participation in international academic cooperation programs and higher education development.
Taiz University’s participation aligns with its strategic objectives to enhance its international academic presence and adopt a transformational leadership model for developing international relations and building sustainable educational partnerships with prestigious academic institutions. Over two days, the conference featured extensive discussions on the outcomes of the YHELD project and mechanisms for developing international relations offices in Yemeni universities. It also reviewed European experiences in academic governance and international engagement, aiming to enhance the capabilities of Yemeni higher education institutions and expand opportunities for academic and research collaboration with international universities.
Professor Dr. Riyadh Al-Aqab emphasized that Taiz University's participation in this conference reflects the university leadership's commitment to academic openness and developing its international relations system. This, he stated, strengthens the university's standing in scientific, regional, and international forums and opens new horizons for scientific and research cooperation.
At the conclusion of the conference, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants, who affirmed the importance of continued international partnerships to support modernization, development, and innovation in Yemeni universities, and to bolster scientific and research collaboration at both the regional and international levels.
